INSOTEC for Class II Specified Toxic Substances

INSOTEC

Advantages

Concept of Soil Contamination Countermeasures Act

Amendment to Soil Contamination Countermeasures Act was put into effect in April, 2010. The amendement is basically to change the excavation-removal-oriented method, which causes damages. By taking the steps of discovering soil contamination, clarification of the needed measures by classifying regulated areas, and the establishment of regulations for ensuring the appropriate treatment of contaminated soil, etc., the area can be used.

Application

Our insoluble treatment agent "INSOTEC" can be applid to Class II Specified Toxic Substances (heavy metals, etc.) .

Properties

¡ As the process doesn't cause any vibration nor noise, do not have to worry about causing neighbors any troubles.
¡ As transportaion of contaminated soil by dump trucks is not necessary, it contributes to the reduction of CO gas content and also don't have to worry about possible accidental contacts with the third parties.
¡ As it is in-situ treatment, earth retaining works are not needed.
¡ The treatment is not affected by groundwater.

Insolubility Mechanism

When insoluble treatment agent "INSOTEC" is added to the soil, a mineral with very high specific surface area called ferrihydrite is deposited. Arsenic exists as an anion having a negative charge called arsenic ion in the surface water.
Ferrihydrite is positively-charged in the natural water and attracts negatively-charged arsenic ion. When arsenic ion is attracted to the surface, it adsorbs on fefihydrite by strong chemical bond . Arsenic and lead are incorporated in the structure of ferrihydrite. They donft easily release to the water from ferrihydrite. (Insolubility)
